Monkami Centre provides support and services to over 160 adults with an intellectual disability. Monkami was established 60 years ago and has developed into an innovative service that is an important part of the local community. It has well developed links with local schools, businesses, Maroondah City Council, Shire of Yarra Ranges Council, other disability services and not for profit organisations, community centres, local groups and more. These links exist to provide improved opportunities and outcomes for our clients as individuals.
Monkami Centre Inc. provides support and services to over 120 adults with a disability. Monkami has been located in Croydon since 1956 and provides an important and innovative link to the local community.
Statement of Purpose
Monkami Centre Inc. is established to be a charity with the purpose of promoting and protecting human rights by acting as an advocate and a defender of such for people with a disability in relation to their rights under the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities. Monkami Centre pledges to individualised, cultural and inclusive service delivery models which demonstrate a commitment to human rights.
Our Organisational Values:
The Mission Statement for Monkami states that its purpose is to provide each adult quality services and the opportunity for individuals with an intellectual disability to develop skills that will enable them to live with the greatest degree of independence within their own community.
